Seussical update from Miss Rowe

Tena koutou whanau, caregivers of nga tamariki of St Martins School.

We are 3 weeks away from our extravaganza of Seussical Jr. The school is a-buzz with all things Seuss! Seussical inspired writing, Seussical raps, Seussical artwork, costuming, acting, musical theatre, singing.....it is all about Dr Seuss!
We are performing at Hillview Christian School, and using their amazing auditorium facility. It is so great that we can use this great venue, and it is in our local community area.
We will be walking to and from Hillview from school for rehearsals - so your child will need a raincoat and or/umbrella, in their bag, all week, as we will be walking down, rain or shine.
As our production is a full school production, it is expected that your child will perform both nights - so that they can shine on stage!
Tickets will go on sale at the beginning of Week 8 (next week). Our amazing office team will be attending to the box office sales. Get in quick - as tickets will be limited to 500 per night. There will be four shows - two matinees and two night performances
Ticket prices are still to be confirmed - this information will be out for the end of this week - Week 7

You might like to help us with taking props and set down on the afternoon on Monday 24th September.

You might like to help us set up the stage space on the Tuesday 25th September morning. You might like to help us pack out on the Thursday 27th September evening.
If you can help in anyway, please let your child’s classroom teacher know. We are super excited and so ready to hit the stage!

Suessical

We have all been given our parts for the school production and Explorers 2 are going to be fish!  So over the next few weeks we are going to be busy practising songs and making our costumes.  We are needing a lot of plane blue fabric.  So if you have any old plain blue sheets or pillowcases we would love for you to bring them to school so we can start creating, thank you.

All children will be required to wear black clothes under their costume.  These can be jeans, thermals, track pants, leggings, t shirts or sweatshirts.  Skirts and tights are not recommended.  If you have a garment with a picture on, it can be worn inside out (no one will know).  These are not needed until dress rehearsals in week 9 and 10, just something you might want to start thinking about.

Oral Language

This term we are sharing our mihi's for Oral Language.  Children have glued the mihi template into their Home Learning books.  We ask that you please complete the mihi together and practise at home.  Please feel free to use another family member, other than father or mother if applicable.  For example a Grandfather, Uncle, Grandmother or Aunt.

Term 3 Newsletter

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We look forward to Term 3 being an exciting term with
our whole school Performance of Seussical Junior.

In Mathematics along with Numeracy our strand focus is Measurement.
We will be learning about time.

In Physical Education we will continue with our usual fitness programme and we will also focus on ball skills.
The children will be writing and orally presenting their own mihi later in the term.

If your child is scheduled to have a reporting conference this term you will receive a
letter outlining the time and booking details.  Keep an eye out for this in the next week.

Thank you to all those parents who come and help in the classroom.  We are always grateful for an extra set of hands, eyes and ears.  If you would like to help with either reading at 9.10 or writing at 10.10 please let either Helen or Michelle know.

Dear Parents and Caregivers in the Junior Pods

We have a child in Room 22 (old library) who has a major allergic reaction to eggs, peanuts and cows milk. They know that they are not to eat or share other people’s food and they have an epi pen should any such reaction occur.

The reason for informing you is that should they come in contact with someone that has been eating eggs ( hard boiled or egg sandwiches) or nuts, they will have a reaction requiring the use of an epi pen.

We acknowledge that this could be difficult in a school situation but want to alert parents as we really hope that such a situation will not occur. We are sending this information to the whole of the Junior school as they eat together.

Thank you
